Glaser Silver Safety Slug .40 S&W 115gr Pre-Fragmented 20/Box features a pre-fragmented bullet which utilizes a copper jacket. Unlike a conventional solid lead core hollow point bullet, the pre-fragmented bullet features a compressed core of #6 lead shot, and is topped with a (silver) polymer ball. This ammunition was designed in 1974 in response to the possibility of covert air marshals having to discharge a handgun on an airplane. The concerns and risks of that era were over-penetration on soft tissue and ricochets on hard surfaces. This ammunition is built for close-quarters defense situations, where reducing collateral damage is a must, and is also designed to deliver optimal, lethal penetration in colder climates, where heavy jackets are typically worn. This ammunition is new production, non-corrosive, in reloadable brass cases.
