Hornady A-TIP Match .30 Caliber (.308 Diameter) 230gr Aluminum Tip Boat Tail 100/Box features an aluminum bullet tip which is precision machined and longer than polymer tips, which moves the center of gravity and enhances inflight stability. This aluminum bullet tip design results in tighter groups and reduced drag variability, creating the right blend of ogive, tip length, bearing surface and optimized boat tail. These bullets are doppler radar verified low drag coefficient, high ballistic coefficient, and are forgiving of twist rate, seating depth and muzzle velocity. Hornady has refined the design of their AMP bullet jackets to maximize uniformity and concentricity. Directly off the press, these bullets are sequentially packaged, one clone after another for the ultimate in consistent performance. These bullets are the official bullet of The Precision Rifle Series, and are built for champion competition shooters. These bullets are new production and non-corrosive.

Hornady A-TIP Match .30 Caliber
I use these bullets for long range target practice. I shoot them out of a 300 PRC @ just over 3000 fps @ 2200 yards. Did a tune on my kestrel ballistic program and can put 1st rounds hits on target.

Impressive
I loaded 10 of these 230 gr Hornady A tips for my 30-378 Weatherby Mag, Mark V with a Accubrake. Impact at 100 with two rounds touching 1" high was within my ability of the 200 gr ELD, 1-1/2" high. So I moved to 500 yards and was 3" high vs 200 gr ELD. I attribute that to the unreal B. C. Since it was a very calm day. At 1000 yards it was 10-12" high vs 200 gr ELD and the slight crosswind from the right that had come up had no effect that I could tell. This was 115 grains of US 869 at 65 degrees. Start lower and work up. US 869 is a little tricky for me and I don't find it to be temperature insensitive. Chronograph at the muzzle was right at 3100 fps. It sure loves the heavy A tips but I'm glad I have an excellent muzzle brake.
